Camps the charitable champs

In January 2010, the charity committee of Chris Rice, (chairman), Jenny Banham, Wendy Dixon Mandy Kinson, Emma Holland and Andrew Thompson set out on a quest to raise £4,000, through coffee mornings, raffles and quiz events.
However this target was greatly exceeded and the group managed to raise £12,350 which enabled the NDCCT to purchase a delivery vehicle, which delivers urgent supplies and equipment to cancer patients in their homes.
Other fund-raising saw Mr Rice organising and participating in a 24-hour snooker marathon, playing 25 opponents in a total of 101 frames of snooker and raising more than £1,500.
A fashion show added another £800 to the fundraising total raised from regular events, which totalled £13,330.
As part of being crowned Charitable Champions, a cheque for £1,000 was also presented to NDCCT treasurer Gordon West.
Camp Hopson is currently fundraising for West Berkshire Alzheimers Society.
