Can you help Community of Hungerford Theatre Company
An urgent appeal has gone out for help with storage space.
For years, the company has been housing staging, costumes props and lighting, and building sets free of charge in four containers located on land owned by its patron, former Hungerford mayor, David Liddiard.
However, the terms of the licence from West Berkshire Council to use the site for the purpose expire in January next year.
An enforcement notice has been issued and a short term extension has been applied for by the company.
A spokeswoman for the theatre company, Hoffi Munt, said: “We have at present nowhere to go. Like all small community theatre companies, the company is run on a shoestring and brings live theatre experience to a cast and crew ranging in ages from six years to 75, and to the citizens of Hungerford, maintaining high performance values, in a wide variety of productions.
“Unless we can find a suitable site for our four containers or their contents, and somewhere to build our sets we may be forced to curtail our activities or even fold this 30-year-old company.”
She added: “We appeal to anyone in the Hungerford area who is able to offer us space to house this key part of our activities.”
Anyone who might be able to help is asked to contact company chairman David Clayton on (01488) 683466 or by email at
