Cancer charities join forces to support local people

The move saw Friends of the Charles Clore Unit become part of the Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust.
For some years, the unit has successfully raised funds for the palliative care day therapy unit based at West Berkshire Community Hospital.
The nurse-led unit helps patients to manage difficult symptoms and provides an informal and relaxed environment where people can discuss their concerns.
The Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust is a larger charity which has been established for nearly 30 years in and around Newbury.
Voluntary services co-ordinator Joanna Skarin said: “Many of our patients have mobility issues and are living with life-limiting symptoms.
“NDCCT support means that we can provide some little ‘extras’ to help our patients get the most out of life.”
