Canoes and crosses proceed through Berkshire and Hampshire
Over 600 canoeists will travel along the Kennet and Avon canal through Hungerford and Newbury as part of the 125-mile, annual Devizes to Westminster race.
This is the 65th event since 1948, making it the oldest and longest kayaking endurance event in the world and paddlers can complete the race in one go or split the event over four days.
From 8am tomorrow (Saturday) the mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson, will start some of the junior and senior races from Northcroft Field, behind the leisure centre.
The race will then head through Reading, Marlow, Windsor, Teddington before ending in Westminster.
Also on Good Friday, large wooden crosses will be carried by church goers as part of a walk of witness, which remembers Jesus' walk from his trial to his crucifixion, and brings a number of Churches in the community together.
The walk, organised by Christians Together in the Newbury Area, will begin at the Newbury Baptist Church in Cheap Street at 10:30am proceeding into the Market Place.
The walk will end at Saint Nicolas Church where a service will be held and hot cross buns will be served.
A walk of witness will also be held in Tadley where around 30 people will set off from St Mary's Church in Bishopswood Road at 9:30am and then stop for a service outside Tadley Library.
The procession will end at the United Reformed Church in Malthouse Lane at 11am.
