Captain Michael Brett Cave who’s coached hundreds of cadets in the Berkshire ACF to shoot honoured with standing joint commander commendation
A captain in the Berkshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) has been honoured with a commendation for his “contribution to developing young people’s skills and confidence”.
Captain Michael Brett Cave received a standing joint commander commendation in the cadets’ new year honours list.
Mr Cave is a passionate advocate for shooting sports within the Berkshire ACF and has coached hundreds of cadets to shoot, including those based in Newbury, many of whom have gone on to achieve success at regional and national shooting competitions.
A Berkshire ACF spokesperson said: “Their expertise, dedication, and encouragement have played a pivotal role in fostering technical proficiency and self-discipline among young people.
“Through their work, Captain Cave has not only enhanced the cadets’ abilities in marksmanship but also instilled valuable life skills such as focus, resilience, and teamwork.
“Their unwavering commitment to promoting shooting sports has ensured that generations of cadets benefit from a safe, challenging, and rewarding environment to develop their potential.”
Upon receiving the commendation, Mr Cave said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated and subsequently awarded this commendation. I am absolutely thrilled.”
Berkshire ACF commandant Colonel Anthony Shallow said: "Captain Cave’s contribution to the Berkshire Army Cadets and to the development of shooting sports is extraordinary.
“His passion for coaching and mentoring has inspired so many cadets, building their confidence and honing their skills.
