Car boot sale to help Burghfield Bowls Club move

The club, which currently meets at Burghfield Golf Club, is required to leave the premises next year as the golf club’s owner’s toy with selling the land, but has found a new home at the Burghfield Community Sports Association (BCSA) on James’s Lane.
The BCSA has offered a piece of land for use by the bowls club, but getting the pitch up to scratch, by planting turf on the green, providing fencing and other work, is set to cost in the region of £70,000.
The club will remain at the golf club for the remainder of the year until its new site is completed.
The club also has aspirations to erect its own clubhouse on the site, which is estimated to cost an additional £60,000.
Sport England have provided a grant of £50,000 to see the work underway, as well as £5,000 from Greenham Common Trust and £1,000 in donations from other bowls clubs and community groups, however the club is busy fundraising the stump up the additional cash.
A car boot sale is being held on Sunday, April 7, from 10am till 2pm, with prices for cars and vans ranging from £8 to £12.
