Car fire at Newbury Retail Park

Part of Newbury Retail Park remains closed this afternoon (Friday), after a large car fire just after midday.

Fire crews battled the blaze for around 30 minutes after the entire front of the BMW was engulfed in flames.

Police and paramedics also raced to the scene, but officers have since confirmed to our reporter at the scene, Mirek Gosney, that nobody was seriously injured.

Traffic in and out of the retail park is currently heavy but is beginning to ease now the fire has been extinguished.

The car was on road outside of Moutain Warehouse and T K Maxx when the fire started.

Two people were able to safely get out of the vehicle before the fire took hold.

They have been placed in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
