Car Club consultation extended

The council is considering a ‘pay-as-you-go’ type scheme for registered members at a suggested cost of around £4.50 per hour plus an extra 21p per mile driven, and which could be booked within a minute’s notice.
The scheme would initially be piloted in the Westfields, Eastfields, town centre, Stroud Green, St John's Road and Speenhamland areas, with plans to roll it out to other parts of the town if it was a success.
Similar schemes have proven popular in other parts of the country as they allow residents to use a car without the burden of maintenance costs, tax, insurance and MOT charges.
If you live in or near the pilot areas you can participate in the public consultation at

or by emailing

All those who respond can choose to be entered into a free prize draw to win £50 worth of High Street shopping vouchers.
The consultation closes on Friday, July 26.
West Berkshire Council had yet to confirmed how the scheme would be funded.
