Car destroyed in Pangbourne fire




Electrical fault sparked fire in vacated vehicle in Sulham Lane

A CAR in parked in a lane in Pangbourne was destroyed by a fire caused by an electrical fault yesterday morning (Wednesday).

One fire engine and five firefighters from Dee Road Fire Station in Tilehurst, were called at 10am to a fire which had started underneath the dashboard of a vacated Vauxhall car in Sulham Lane, according to watch manager of Blue Watch at Dee Road, Steve Trenery.

No-one was hurt.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, which was contained to the one vehicle and extinguished after 20 minutes.

The fire destroyed the car. The lane remained open throughout the incident.
