Car fire on M4 this morning (Tuesday)




Fire crew from Dee Road in Tilehurst was called to the fire between junctions 12 (Theale) and 13 (Chieveley)

FIREFIGHTERS attended a car fire on the M4 near Newbury this morning (Tues).

A crew from Dee Road, Tilehurst, was called to the scene on the hard shoulder westbound between junction 12 (Theale) and junction 13 (Chieveley) at 9.49am.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman, Ellie Gray, said that the car, a Citroen, was “well alight” when the fire crew arrived.

A lane of the motorway was closed from 9.50am until 10.53am and motorists experienced some delays.

The fire brigade left the scene at 10.34am.
