Car fires in Newbury and Reading suspected arsons
According to Richard Young, watch manager of Green Watch at Newbury Fire Station, one pump from Newbury was called at 1am to Burchell Road, Newbury where a Rover Metro was ablaze.
Firefighters used one set of breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire, which completely destroyed the car, before leaving the scene 40 minutes later.
According to Simon Abbott, watch manager of Green Watch at Tilehurst Fire Station, Reading, one pump from this station was called at midnight on Sunday (Jun 16) to Sulham Hill, where a Saab Estate was on fire.
“It appeared to have been dumped,” said Mr Abbott.
Firefighters used one hosereel and one set of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze, which completely destroyed the car, before leaving the scene 20 minutes later.
Police have been informed of both incidents.
