Car torched in Calcot suspected arson




Suspected stolen vehicle destroyed in blaze

A car was torched in a Calcot suspected arson last night (Thurs).

One fire engine from Dee Road Fire Station, in Tilehurst, was called at 10.45pm to Carston Grove, where a Ford Focus was well alight.

A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze with a hosereel.

The car, believed stolen, was destroyed in the blaze, with people carrying petrol cans seen running away from the scene, according to firefighters, who left after 45 minutes.

No-one was hurt.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) recorded the incident as a suspected arson and informed police accordingly.

Thames Valley Police were called at 11pm and said one person was seeing running away from the scene.

Police are treating the incident as a suspected arson and anyone with information is asked to telephone the non emergency police telephone number, 101, quoting reference number 43150237117.
