Car transporter catches fire at Chieveley services

The incident occured on the slip road at junction 13 of the A34 northbound, close to the Travelodge hotel at Chieveley services.
The fire service was alerted to the incident at 3:23pm, and the fire had been extinguished by 3:50pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Update 5.30pm
Newbury Fire Station has confirmed the cab of the car transporter was destroyed in the incident. No-one was hurt.
The cause was an engine fault, according to the fire service.
The car transporter was empty of cars.
