Car veers off carriageway south of Newbury

Woman driver's lucky escape

A WOMAN had a lucky escape after a collision south of Newbury during this evening's (Tues) rush hour, after a car veered off the road and rolled over.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) were called to the incident in Newtown Road at 5.25pm, following a collision involving a parked car and another car, which left the carriageway.

Newtown Road was closed at Friar Road during the incident, according to police.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) were called at 5.14pm to the collision involving a woman driver who was trapped in the car and sent a rapid response vehicle and ambulance to the scene:

"Crews on scene have reported her as being uninjured, or only with very minor injuries," said David Gallagher, a spokesman for the ambulance service.

Two fire engines from Newbury Fire station were also believed to be at the scene.

Drivers were advised to seek alternative routes.
