Drivers and passengers have lucky escape

A caravan and two cars were involved in an M4 collision between Newbury and Reading this afternoon (Monday), in which the drivers and passengers had a lucky escape.

Firefighters from Newbury Fire Station were called to the scene at 1.47pm, to the M4 eastbound, between junctions 13 and 12, to a collision involving a caravan being towed by a car and another car.

The caravan became unbuckled from the car in the incident, but all three vehicles remained upright and no-one was seriously hurt.

Those involved were described as "walking wounded," by firefighters at the scene, who said it proved "A significant crash, but luckily everyone was ok."

Firefighters also provided immediate First Aid at the scene, before paramedics arrived.

One lane of the motorway remained open.
