The date was chosen because it was the care home’s owners, Mandy Plumb and Karen Bolt-Lawrence, father’s birthday. He died from a brain tumour.

An Enbridge spokesperson said: “It's a family business and he was an important part in making the home what it is now.

“We invited the friends and family of Enbridge to come along and wear a hat. Some of the residents made their own while others wore one of their favourite hats.

“Our residents love to give back. When we spoke about doing this they were happy to take part in raising awareness.”

The Enbridge spokesperson added: “It was an amazing cake that you donated to us for such an amazing cause.

“Thank you Colline’s Kitchen. It was a shame to cut into it, but we could not resist. It tasted as good, if not better, than it looked.”
