Carnival organisers call for entries
An appeal has gone out over this year's Lambourn Carnival to "use it or lose it"
AN APPEAL has gone out to villagers over this year's carnival to “use it or lose it.”
One of the organisers, Peter Williams, said that entries are down for the event tomorrow (Sunday) and consequently he has launched a poster campaign to encourage more participants.
Mr Williams said: “The carnival has always received a fair amount of support in the past but so far this year there are not as many entries as in previous years.
“We want to let people know that it's not too late to enter.”
Entry forms are still available from Mr Williams at 7, St Georges Terrace, or from the Universal Stores.
Tonight (Saturday), meanwhile, Lambourn indulges itself in the Gala Evening from 4pm until 9.30pm in the Old Cricket Field.
Events include the carnival princess parade, children's games and races, Zorbing, speed football, tug-of-war, pony rides, clay pigeon shooting and games for pet dogs.
A live band and beer tent complete the entertainment.
Lambourn Royal British Legion Club is also hosting entertainment on both days.
The club also presents a live band, Grass Roots, from 8pm tonight (Saturday)
Then, on carnival day tomorrow (Sunday), the club will be open for refreshments during the afternoon and there will be a disco, with a £2 entry charge, from 8pm.
Funds raised will go towards providing new disabled toilets at the club and towards resurfacing the car park.
The club is open to new members and membership forms will be available on request on both days.
