Hungerford Carnival parade cancelled after Met Office issues amber extreme heat warning
The Hungerford Carnival parade has been cancelled due to the expected hot weather on Sunday.
The Met Office has issued an amber extreme heat warning for Sunday and Monday and so organisers said they were “deeply upset” but feel it is the best decision to keep everyone safe.
The fun day on Saturday will still go ahead as planned.
Neale Marney, who is part of the Hungerford Carnival committee, said: “It is a tough decision but we had to do it.
“We are deeply upset and sorry we had to do it but we have a duty of care for all.
“Hopefully we can resurrect it next year and we thank everybody for their support.”
The fun day will take place at Hungerford Rugby Club, Priory Road from 2pm on Saturday.
There will be fun events for children, charity stalls, as well as plenty of refreshments and shade.
