Carnival seeks golden couples

A reception will be held as part of Newbury Carnival for people celebrating their golden wedding this year

NEWBURY Carnival organisers are searching for couples celebrating their golden wedding this year to be guests of honour at this year's parade.

The carnival parade will take place on Sunday, July 10, with a theme of ‘Going for Gold' and organisers are looking for people who married in 1961 to be a part of the community event.

There will be a ‘guests of honour' reception for the couples, while they will also be invited to join the parade, with the couple whose anniversary date is closest to the carnival date having special travel arrangements made for them.
