£175k to be spent upgrading play equipment in West Berkshire




Parks and outdoor spaces are getting some upgrade cash in next year’s West Berkshire Council spending round.

Speenhamland outdoor area has been allocated £147.5k to refurbish it, and to make it meet the needs of pupils attending the Keevil Unit at Speenhamland School.

Work is scheduled to replace the sheet piling on the canal bank in Newbury from the A339 bridge to the Peace Garden by the Wharf bridge.

The next three years sees £175k allocated for the purchase of equipment which provides activity for children, young people, and families.

Thatcham memorial fields will get a reshaping to provide flood storage areas, as identified in the Thatcham surface water management plan.
