Cath Kidston and LOccitane open in Newbury
Both stores opened on Thursday last week, offering promotional offers and discounts.
A queue of eager customers quickly formed outside Cath Kidston, famous for it’s nostalgic floral prints, with the first shoppers to spend over £30 receiving a free notebook.
There was also a selection of baked goods decorated in the company’s trademark colours, supplied by Tadley based company Cakes by Joanne.
Store manager, Cathy Elston said the store was “absolutely rammed” from the time of opening.
Commercial director, Chris McKendrick, said: “We are delighted to add Newbury to our growing portfolio of shops. The Parkway is a great location.”
A similar sight was witnessed just three hours later at L’Occitane, with crowds gathering to watch as the Mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson (Lib-Dem, Newbury), cut the ribbon and declared the store officially open.
This time champagne and goody-bags of free samples were handed to customers as they entered.
Combined, the two stores created 15 new jobs for the area, something celebrated by Mr Johnson.
He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic, a fantastic boost for the town, for the economy and the community.
“The crowd here just goes to show it.”
