CCTV switchover still not complete
The answer to a question at last week's executive meeting revealed that one camera is still not operational
THE CCTV switch-over project which saw the camera hub in Newbury moved to a new high-tech station in Windsor and Maidenhead has still not been completed.
Newbury Labour spokesman Richard Garvie asked the question of the current state of the transfer at meeting of West Berkshire Council's executive on Thursday.
The portfolio holder for public safety, Anthony Stansfeld (Con, Kintbury), replied: “The cameras have been up and on for a number of weeks now. 39 are up and working, one camera is not operational due to a major underground cabling issue.”
He said the council were monitoring the situation on a day to day basis and hoped to have it resolved as soon as possible.
It had been hoped that the project would be completed in January this year.
