Celebration for first birthday of Newbury skate park
The event had first been scheduled to take place on the same day as the Crafty Craft event in May, and then again on the diamond jubilee event in Victoria Park earlier in the month, but these both were postponed because of the heavy rain.
At the event on Saturday, June 16, there were demonstrations and prizes, and the chance for people to have a go themselves. There was also live music from DJ Diamond Sire, who had attended events at the original skate park in 1998.
Event organiser Jon Trenchard said that he was glad that the jam had finally gone ahead.
It gave people the chance to see how it was being used since it was opened, he added.
“It couldn't have gone any better; it was a relief to be able to hold it in the end. Everyone enjoyed it, and I don’t think the weather dampened anybody's day.
“There was three generations of user there which was something else.”
