Celebrity chef calls time on tenure at The Pot Kiln

Robinson, who became nationally known as a game chef after appearing on television’s Saturday Kitchen and Great Food Live, is calling time on his nine years at The Pot Kiln, Frilsham, to move on to other projects after separating from his wife Katie, with whom he bought the pub.
Agent Christie & Co are advertising the freehold at a reduced rate of £925,000, having previously put it up at £1.1m.
The future of The Pot Kiln is now unclear – but Mr Robinson says he hopes it remains a village pub.
Speaking to the Newbury Weekly News on Wednesday, he said: “Katie and I both absolutely love the place and have worked hard to build its reputation over almost 10 years.
“We have both got other projects and we have not been a couple for some time now, so thought now was probably a good time to put it on the market.
“What happens now is really down to whoever buys it, but the ideal scenario would be that someone comes in who really wants to run a lovely local pub. Nothing lasts forever and now is the right time – but we are not in any rush to sell it.”
The pub regularly featured in the CAMRA good food guide and last year was voted 29th place in a list of 50 ultimate gastropubs in the country by a panel of industry professional judges. Bethany Doggett, of the Winchester branch of Christie & Co, said that there had been strong interest in the pub since the price reduction.
