Celebs soak up sun as Frankel makes victorious Newbury comeback





The Best of British Beer Festival also took place inside the grounds to keep throats wet as the Racecourse toasted a hugely successful event.
The seasonal re-appearance of Frankel in the in the £175,000 Group 1 JLT Lockinge Stakes did not disappoint as the world’s highest rated racehorse put in a stunning performance to recorded his tenth consecutive victory.
Frankel’s owner, Saudi Prince Khalid Abdullah, was at Newbury to see his colt a quality field which included the second highest rated miler, Excelebration, trained by Aidan O’Brien.
More than 50 different ales and ciders, including a selection by the West Berkshire Brewery, drew crowds to the event, which the Racecourse said attracted an attendance to just over 14,000.
The managing director of racing and events at Newbury Racecourse, Stephen Higgins, said, “We’ve been gearing up for this event for some time. I am delighted that Newbury race goers have had the opportunity to see one of the greatest racehorses of all time in action.”
