Centenarian proves that you are only as old as you feel
Bill Brown, of Tanner Court, Pelican Lane, took along his congratulatory card from the Queen to the party to show some 40 guests at Fairclose Day Centre, Newtown Road.
Rose Haines, a welfare officer at the centre, said: “He was quite proud about [the card] and brought it with him.
"I said, ‘Is that to just to prove that you are 100, Bill, as we keep saying you are not.”
A former ambulance driver, Mr Brown was born in London.
He attends the centre about twice a week, and, on his special day, was treated to his favourite meal – steak, mushrooms and chips.
He enjoyed a further party at home on December 29, the date of his birthday.
Mrs Haines added: “When you get to be 100 you can have two parties.”
