Centenarian returns to Cold Ash for special birthday





Hester McClintock, whose birthday was on Saturday, August 25, celebrated with a party in The Fisher Room at St Mark's Church.
Mrs McClintock moved to Cold Ash in 1956 following the death of her husband, where she raised her three young children.
Once her children were older and were attending boarding school, the keen artist taught at various schools including Brockhurst and (the former) Ridge House School.
In her spare time she was members of various art groups and enjoyed gardening.
She also held open studio exhibits of her own work.
Four years ago she move to Barby, just outside Rugby, to live with one of her daughters, Charlotte Beresford, and her husband Peter.
In Barby she is still a keen member of the local Women's Institute, the local church (being a former vicar's wife) and attends art clubs.
Mrs Beresford, said: "She got her card from the queen which was of great interest.
"She still lives life to the full."
Mrs McClintock has three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
