Chaddleworth gets much needed affordable homes

The much-needed houses, built in St Andrews Close, will now be made available to those who have a strong connection to the village.
The development was the first rural exception scheme by Sovereign in West Berkshire in several years and was the result of a housing survey conducted by the parish council, who have been addressing the need for locally built affordable homes for a number of years.
Michael Pooley, the former chairman of Chaddleworth Parish Council, said: “This is a genuine success story for all concerned - well designed houses on a good site and our list of Chaddleworth people needing social housing reduced to nearly zero.”
The site was obtained on a lease basis from the Oxford Diocese with an additional 0.29 acre field purchased at the rear of the site to provide open space.
