Champion launch night for BikeLux

Ten time national champion, Nick Craig, visited Newbury this week to launch a new bike shop and ride with locals

WEST Berkshire's mountain bikers were treated to a ride with a ten time national champion this week.

Nick Craig, who, amongst his other achievements, counts three national championships in the Elite category and an appearance at the Sydney Olympics, came to Newbury to help launch a new bike shop, BikeLux, in the Motorlux Mazda showrooms, Ampere Road, Newbury, on Tuesday evening.

He led a group of about a dozen avid bikers through torrential rain on a 15-mile off-road circular route through Newbury and Greenham.

Mr Craig said: “It's always good to go out on a night ride and the rain tests your resolve, but its more fun to go out in this weather in a group than on your own.”

According to the store manager, Gregg Craig, all the riders returned wet and dirty, but uninjured. He said that a similar event is being planned for April.
