Change at the top of CCB

Elaine Cook is moving on from the Community Council for Berkshire

THE Community Council for Berkshire (CCB) will have a new acting chief executive from next month.

Jonathan Cole, who is currently head of the CCB enterprise unit, will step into the role in July, taking over from Elaine Cook, who has been appointed chief executive of the Community Council for Devon.

Chairman of the CCB board of trustees, Professor Gavin Parker, said: “Elaine has done sterling work for local communities through her work with CCB over many years.

“Since 2003, when she was appointed CEO, she has been instrumental in securing many significant programmes that benefited people living and working in Berkshire - in particular community planning and affordable rural housing.”

Meanwhile, he welcomed the appointment of Mr Cole, adding: “I am delighted that Jon Cole is stepping up to lead the organisation for the next few months until we can appoint Elaine's replacement.

“He recently secured a three-year project funded by the European Social Fund working with young people aged 16 to 18 who are not in employment, education or training.”

CCB is preparing to support communities making the most of the Localism Bill and is co-hosting a conference at the University of Reading on July 7 entitled, Leadership in Localism - Make Localism Work for You.
