Change of venue for stand-up comic
Award-winning comedian Paul Chowdhry to kick off national tour of Not PC at New Greenham Arts
Award-winning stand-up comedian Paul Chowdhry is about to embark on his debut national UK tour. Following sell out runs in London's West End and at the O2's IndigO2, it's time for this iconic internationally critically acclaimed comedian to embark on an official tour with his new show Not PC.
Not PC looks at the funny side of miscommunication, generation gaps, everyday racism and ignorance, how to order a Chinese takeaway, and how to confront Radio 1Xtra DJ Tim Westwood about stealing jokes.
Chowdhry is renowned for challenging taboo subjects and a delivery which fuels an eclectic set punctuated by impressive feats of mimicry and verbal dexterity. His highly-charged dry observational humour taps into the multicultural diversity of contemporary Britain. Expect a revolutionary and memorable comedy going experience.
Chowdhry explains: “I've built up an incredibly loyal following on the underground scene and am looking forward to embarking on my first official UK tour.
“This show is for anyone who loves raw stand-up comedy. If you're from a community, or not from a community, if you're black, white or BNP, come and see the show as it'll be a memorable event. You will leave with food for thought as you go to a takeaway on the way home.”
As well as stand-up comedy, which he has performed around the world, Chowdhry has starred in Comedy Central's Comedy Store specials and MTV's Young Gods of Comedy; he also has a number of acting credits to his name, featuring in Swinging With The Finkles alongside Martin Freeman, Melissa George and Jerry Stiller, which will be released in June. Most recently, Chowdhry headlined Channel 4's Stand Up for the Week on April 2.
Paul Chowdhry opens at the New Greenham Arts - not at the Corn Exchange, as previously advertised - on Wednesday(7.45pm). Tickets, priced £14 (concs £12), are available from the box office, telephone (01635) 5227333 or online at www.cornexchangenew.co.uk Age guide 18-plus.
