Changing face of Parkway with new director and new food outlets

It follows the departure of Derek Rossenrode, who became director in April last year, who has moved to be closer to his family.
Mr Pickett has more than 10 years experience within retail management, including at Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole and Princes Mead Shopping Centre, Farnborough.
He said: “It’s a fantastic time to be joining Parkway.
“Newbury is on an upward trajectory as the town cements its position as a great shopping destination.
“I’m very much looking forward to working closely with the team at Parkway and the wider Newbury community to help maintain this momentum.”
“We’ve got an exciting few months ahead at Parkway as we look to add to the retail offer at the centre.
“I’m very much looking forward to welcoming more visitors to Parkway over the course of the coming weeks.”
And Mr Pickett is not the only new arrival at Parkway, with the opening of Gelato Joe’s ice cream parlour last week, in the former unit of sandwich shop Bite.

Store manager Matt Barber, aged 23 and a former St Bartholomew’s School pupil, said: “It has been amazing so far.
“I couldn’t thank Newbury more for the way they have come out to support us.
“We thought people were bored of the likes of the typical coffee chains. Ice cream is fun, exciting, something every generation can enjoy.
“We have been very busy, and I think the weather is helping.
“There have been lots of lovely comments and feedback. So pretty positive all round.”
It follows the opening of coffee shop Coffee #1 at Parkway last month, which has also proved popular with town centre shoppers.
