Charity car wash a roaring success

The event, organised by the town’s Rotary Club, was declared a huge success.

Club president James Podger, who participated with wife Susie and their daughter, town councillor Charlotte, said: “Thank you to all who support the event.

“We worked hard all day without a break and some customers were happy to wait up to an hour to get their cars washed.”

The fundraiser took place on Sunday at the Wyevale Garden Centre, between 9am and 4.30pm.

Clean2Gleam franchisee Arjen Lalaj and owner Gary Winter donated their services and premises and all the funds raised will go towards a pool pod project at the Mary Hare School for deaf children in Snelsmore Common.

The pair also donated all their day’s takings and Mr Podger added: “The staff at Clean2Gleam worked tirelessly and the total raised included car wash payments and donations, including a generous top-up from Clean2Gleam company owner Gary Winter.”
