Charity coffer boosted thanks to Newbury Rotarians

£1,000 cheque for children's educational programme

THE coffers of a local children’s educational charity have been boosted by £1,000, thanks to Newbury Rotary Club.

The continued support of the Coram Life Education (CLE) programme, was the theme of a recent Newbury Rotary meeting.

Locally CLETV, and nationally CLE, deliver an educational programme aimed at helping young people, including with age- appropriate sessions linked to the national curriculum and to some 120 schools and 22,000 children across the Thames Valley.

Visits to schools in a mobile classroom – The Lifebus – provide fun-packed sessions featuring a Harold the Giraffe puppet, who helps introduce and explore emotions.

A cheque for £1,000 was presented to members of the CLETV team, bringing the Rotarians’ total contributions to them to £19,500 over the last 12 years.

Next up for Newbury Rotarians is a charity fundraiser by member, Kevin Mosley, to undertake a 1000-mile, 12-day cycle challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats on August 30, raising money for CLETV and Alzheimers, with a £5,000 target in sight.
