The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations: Newbury pub to host charity beer and cider festival

A Fun Friday will be had by all as a charity mini beer and cider festival takes place at a Newbury pub over the Jubilee weekend.

The Old London Apprentice, on Hambridge Road, will play host to the two-day event on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4.

The Friday, being dubbed Fun Friday by pub landlord Ken Amor, will begin at 2pm with a “mini beer and cider festival” and an afternoon of pub games. These include shuffleboard, pool, darts and a Mr & Mrs competition.

On the Saturday there will be a garden fete, with various stalls, kicking off at 2pm and going on until late.

A fashion show will be held at 4pm and the day also includes a disco – playing music from across the decades of the Queen’s reign – and a raffle.

Organised by Diane Jones, the events will be raising money for the Crimson Heat Academy and the Meningitis Trust.

Mr Amor added: “We pride ourselves on being a real community.”

Everyone is welcome to all the events.
