Newbury charity football club delighted with Unison West Berkshire sponsorship
Unison West Berkshire is sponsoring a charity football team for those with physical and learning difficulties in Newbury.
The Newbury Community Resource Centre (NCRC) charity football team plays in an inclusive league called the BOBi League (Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Inclusive) which provides competitive playing opportunities for children and adults.
The NCRC, commonly known as the community furniture project, is a local charity that promotes independent living by providing re-used furniture and household goods to those who need it.
It also provides them with opportunities for volunteering, training and work experience.
In addition to this, it seeks to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the natural environment
The team, which are currently top of the league, were delighted with a new kit from Unison.
Unison said it was very proud to sponsor the charity and everything that it does.
Unison West Berkshire local campaigns organiser, Callum Harling, said: “We want to have as many community links as we can. We want to show there is a community side to it that we don’t always see.
“It was nice to go down there, to see how happy they [squad] all were when we handed the kit over.
“They put it on straight away. This is what our members want, it’s what we want and they were so happy.”
