Football tournament raises over £7k for Newbury Cancer Care at Trinity School

A charity kickabout at a Newbury school has scored more than £7,000 for Newbury Cancer Care.

Eight teams made up of 85 players – with an average age of 40 – faced off in a charity football match at Trinity School on Sunday, May 4.

The tournament kicked off at 8.30am and ended around 10 hours later.

Families stayed and watched throughout the day, making the most of an ice cream and burger van and a sound speaker playing 90s music.

The £7,000 sum was raised via online donations and two raffles, one with mixed prizes and the other with sports merchandise – including four signed items from word darts champion Luke Humphries, originally from Newbury.
