Test smoke alarms to make sure they work when clocks go back on Sunday

ROYAL Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is urging householders to test their smoke alarms when they turn their clocks back an hour on Sunday (30 October).

According to the RBFRS, last year, 246 people died in house fires in the UK . However, one in three battery smoke alarms fail to work in fires, usually because the battery was flat, or intentionally removed.
