Chieveley girl in Junior Bake Off semi final
Freya Watson will appear in the BBC programme due to be aired today (Tuesday)
A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl from Chieveley has made it through to the semi finals of the BBC programme Junior Bake Off.
Freya Watson was the winner of Thursday's eighth heat of the competition, impressing the judges, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, with her brownies and Hallowe'en inspired ginger biscuits.
Freya, who was inspired to apply for the show after becoming an avid fan of the recent BBC Two series, The Great British Bake Off, will now take her place in the semi finals, which is scheduled to be broadcast on CBBC at 6.20pm tonight(Tuesday).
The show will also be repeated tomorrow on BBC One at 3.05pm.
The Chieveley Primary School pupil said: “I was really happy with my brownies because the last time I made brownies they came out like cakes, because I used milk chocolate.
“I thought I could have improved my inventive bake because I didn't have time to make spiders webs for the top of the biscuits.”
Freya, who watched the repeat of her heat with her Year 6 class, Owl class, added: “It was quite strange seeing yourself on the tele because I didn't know how I would act on camera.
“I watched it with my family who thought I was really good. I also watched it with my best friend, Alice Beard, who has been really kind.
“It was very special to get through. Now I'm really excited about appearing in the semi finals.”
If successful in tonight's show, Freya will go through to the final which is due to be aired later this week.
