Child artist and social media star The Doodleboy donates CarFest artwork to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital
A child social media star known for his imaginative art style has covered a toy car with his drawings and donated it to a local hospital.
Joe Whale, better known as The Doodleboy, has more than 164,000 followers on his Instagram page which showcases his cartoonish drawings and paintings.
At this year’s edition of CarFest, a family festival located in Overton that was created by Chris Evans to raise money for children’s charities, The Doodleboy covered a toy car with his illustrations.
Partnering with Starlight, the UK’s leading charity for children’s play in healthcare, 12-year-old Joe created lots of artwork across the festival on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Joe has now donated the doodle-covered toy car to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to bring some joy to some of the younger patients there.
Joe said: “I’ve had an incredible weekend at CarFest, working with Starlight and I can’t wait for this toy car to bring a smile to so many children’s faces at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.”
Head of public fundraising at Starlight Sam Butler said: “We are delighted The Doodleboy came on board with us this weekend at CarFest.
“Joe’s illustrations and doodled toy car will brighten up the children’s hospital ward and help children experience the power of play when undergoing treatment.”
