Children can get in on the Bayer fun run

With entries now officially open for the 10km roadrace through Newbury, on May 26, Bayer and co-organisers Newbury Athletic Club have announced a 1.5km fun run, to be held before the main event. This will be for youngsters aged between five and 15.
Spokeswoman for for pharmaceutical firm Bayer, Andrea Foster, said: "Bayer celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, so it is a great opportunity for us to make it a special year for the 10k.
"We've been really encouraged by the number of people who have continued to support the race, both serious and fun runners, as well as those lacing up their trainers for the first time.
"With so many families coming out to support their runners, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for the children to get active and join in the fun."
Over the past five years, nearly £40,000 has been raised for charity as a result of the races. The money is split between the races' nominated charity of the year and the athletic club.
This year money raised will be donated to Naomi House and Jack's Place, hospices which support children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
