Thatcham families enjoy fun in the sun at KidsFest before going back to school
At least 200 people filled Thatcham town centre last week for KidsFest.
On Thursday, August 29, children and their families visited food, craft and games stalls along the Broadway and High Street to round off the summer holidays in style before going back to school.
By 11am, the event, organised by Thatcham Town Council, was in full swing with mini golf, drama workshops and a fancy dress competition — which Mayor of Thatcham, Suzanne Adamantos, had the important task of judging.
Under fives’ also enjoyed a range of inflatables, ice cream van and circus skills by Juggling Jake over at Turnfields Recreation Ground, opposite Howden Insurance — which sponsored the event alongside Picture It Framed and Gardner Leader.
Visitors shared their praise for the event online.
“The live music was great,” said one. “Thank you to everyone involved in putting this event together.”
Another visitor added: “My son had a lovely time with his nan yesterday. Thank you for putting on such a great event.”
St Mary’s Church also opened its doors to the The Watermill Theatre, which ran free drama workshops and theatre craft sessions for children aged four to 16.
And Four Eyed Theatre drew crowds at The Broadway with its short interactive comedy sketch, all about bottling up emotions.
Many children came dressed as their favourite superhero.
