Thatcham United Reformed Church treated to ‘delightful’ performance by Basingstoke Hospital Male Voice Choir

Members and friends of Thatcham United Reformed Church enjoyed some “delightful” entertainment last weekend in aid of the church.

Braving challenging weather, the congregation were treated to a performance by the Basingstoke Hospital Male Voice Choir on Sunday afternoon (November 24).

The 20-strong choir was conducted by Dai Ogborn and accompanied throughout by Paul Wright on the clavinova.

A wide variety of music was performed, including Welsh hymn Llanfair composed by Robert Williams, Offenbach’s Gendarmes Duet by two suitably attired ‘policemen’ and the song Some Enchanted Evening from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s 1949 musical South Pacific.

The event helped raise more than £350 for the much-needed renovation of the church sanctuary.
