Choir serenades Newbury shoppers

Parkway kicked off Valentine's Day celebrations on Sunday, let us know if you have a special proposal prepared

A NEWBURY ladies choir braved the cold on Sunday to woo shoppers into a warm mood for Valentine's Day today (Tuesday).

Incantata, a ladies community choir based at the New Greenham Arts Centre, were at the Parkway shopping complex performing a set of shoppers' favourite love songs.

Two weeks prior, Parkway shoppers had been asked to vote online for their favourite love song and hundreds of Newbury shoppers put at the top of the poll Don't Want to Miss a Thing, by Aerosmith, My Heart Will Go On, by Celine Dion, and the long-standing number one from Bryan Adams, Everything I do, I do it for you.

Parkway's Centre Manager, Neil Carter said: “We really appreciate the effort they [Incantata] have gone to for our shoppers, and their performance was all the more incredible considering the short amount of time they had to rehearse.”

Incantata performed in front of jeweller's shop, Fraser Hart.

Anyone who was spurred on to dash into a jewellers to purchase an engagement ring and propose to their loved one today, or anyone planning to ‘pop the question', can contact Jane Meredith on (01635) 564537 or email details to jane.meredith@newburynews.co.uk
