Chris Tarrant withdraws extension plans for Bucklebury mansion

The 67-year-old was seeking permission for a two-storey extension to incorporate a cloakroom, snug and utility room on the ground floor and two additional bedrooms on the first floor.
He was also looking to extend the existing sitting room and build an en-suite bathroom for the master bedroom.
In early March, Mr Tarrant suffered a stroke while on a flight from Thailand to London Heathrow.
The reasons for the withdrawal have not been confirmed, however his manager Paul Vaughan told the Newbury Weekly News this week that said medical professionals treating Mr Tarrant have instructed him not to contact Mr Tarrant on work-related matters or anything which could induce stress until at least the end of June to aid his recovery.
Speaking to the Newbury Weekly News yesterday (Wednesday), Mr Vaughan said: “The application has been taken off the table for the time being.
“He is recovering well but his medical team said he shouldn’t do anything until the end of June.
“He’s working very hard at his physiotherapy. He’s recovering fairly well.”
Bucklebury Parish Council had raised no objection to the plans, and released the following statement in response: “Whilst this application increases the size of the dwelling beyond 50 per cent, the alterations cannot be seen from any public right of way or anywhere external to the curtilage of the property.
“Whilst the cottage is old, it is not listed and has seen a significant amount of change over the years making it difficult if not impossible to identify the original build.
“The impact would therefore be insignificant.”
Mr Vaughan added that he expected new plans to be submitted at some point in the future.
