Christmas? In October?

Autumn leaves may still be falling from the trees, but one West Berkshire town is keen to crack on with Christmas

CHRISTMAS has come early in Thatcham. Very early in fact.

The town is the first to have its lights up in West Berkshire but the Christmas lights contractor, Lamps and Tubes, said that it was usual for them to be up this early in order to make sure they are working properly and that there are no glitches on the big night.

The lights are up in the Broadway, along Bath Road and on the High Street.

The Christmas lights will this year be turned on by the town mayor, Lee Dillon, on December 2 from 5.30pm.

During the event there will be Christmas carols, games, stalls and a chance to meet Santa himself.

Last year hundreds of people turned out for the evening of community fun and entertainment.
