Cigarettes stolen from Burghfield shop

Police are appealing for witnesses after a quantity of cigarettes was stolen from the Co-op in Burghfield

CIGARETTES were stolen from the Co-op in Burghfield in a burglary on Tuesday (January 4).

At about 11.35pm, two men arrived at the Clayhill Road store in a car and attacked the shop's metal shutters with a crowbar.

After gaining entry, the men allegedly stole a quantity of cigarettes, before they went off in the same car, which police believe to be a black BMW 3 Series with black or tinted windows.

Police say the men were wearing masks to cover their faces and they were dressed in black clothing.

Det Con Steve Brown, from Newbury CID, said: “We believe that a number of people passed through the area at the time of the incident and I would like to speak to anyone who has any information that could help us progress our investigation.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who has been offered cheap cigarettes for sale.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Det Con Brown on 0845 8 505 505, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
