Newbury Corn Exchange's Cinderella panto performance cancelled after sewage block
Cinderella didn’t go to the ball at the Corn Exchange this afternoon (Tuesday) after the performance had to be cancelled due to a sewage blockage in the Market Place.
A local primary school had been due to see the show – which is running from November 6 until January 2 2022 at the theatre – this afternoon, however the performance was cancelled as there were no working toilets at the venue.
Thames Water staff were working in the alley between the theatre and The Elephant at the Market hotel, feeding pipes into the sewage network trying to locate and clear the blockage.
The theatre’s front of house supervisor Emma Gradwell said: “It’s a Market Place problem, it’s affected next door and the corner.
“We’ve had to cancel because we don’t have any working toilets so it isn’t safe for the children to come.
“Hopefully we can get them booked in for another day.”
