Iconic films return to Vue’s big screen for Pride
From fan favourites to award winners, Vue has an iconic line-up of LGBTQIA+ films heading back to the big screen this Pride month.
Vue will be taking donations for Stonewall at concession stands – with payment provider Adyen generously doubling any contributions.
Kickstarting the celebration today is Pride (June 16). The multi-award-nominated film with an all-star cast tells the true story of a group of gay and lesbian activists who raise money to help families affected by the British miner’s strike in 1984.
Also arriving on Sunday is the Best Picture winner at the 2017 Oscars, Moonlight. This coming-of-age drama takes us through the three defining chapters of a young black man’s life in Miami. With poignant storytelling, next-level performances and stunning visuals – it’s a film to be enjoyed again and again.
1996 classic The Birdcage starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane sees the duo delivering iconic comedy gold as they play a married gay couple who pretend to be straight so their son can introduce them to his financee's right-wing parents. If you missed out on the chance to watch this the first time round, it’s back on the big screen from June 23.
Also returning this month is Carol on June 30, starring Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett, who fall in love in the 1950s, as well as instant hit Love, Simon on July 7, which tells the story of a high school teenager considering coming out after falling for an anonymous classmate online.
