Circus of Horrors - live and dangerous
Imagine if Quentin Tarantino had directed Cirque Du Soleil, then you would be only half way there
The Circus of Horrors, the act that rocked Britain's Got Talent, is at The Anvil, Basingstoke, on January 12, (7.45pm), with a new awe inspiring, jaw dropping show.
Sixteen years after its conception at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival, the bizarre circus has toured the world, achieving cult status and dragging the genre into the 21st century.
The new production, The Ventriloquist, goes on a whirlwind journey though 1921 Berlin - the roaring twenties, a decedent decade and the birth of the ‘Cabaret'.
One particular venue was struggling to make ends meet, new blood was needed and it was found when Dr Haze rolled into town with his Vampire Vaudeville show, featuring hair hanging beauties, twisted contortionists, flying aerialists, demon dwarfs, gyrating jugglers, voodoo warriors, pickled people, sword swallowers and its latest and greatest new-found star The Ventriloquist.
Inspired by the Evil Ventriloquist movies Devil Doll and The Dead of Night, the spine-shivering story twists and turns, as the demonic dummy seems to take on a life of its own.
The Circus of Horrors features some of the greatest, most bizarre and beautiful circus acts on earth.
Where else can you see a dare devil sword swallower swallowing an illuminated neon tube, a beautiful creature hanging upside-down while a daredevil trapeze artist performs a exquisite aerial act hung solely from her partner's hair, or a contortionist contort her body while firing a arrow from a long bow with her feet?
All this and a whole lot more – a musical masterpiece with the pulsating Devil-driven Rock 'n' Roll of Dr Haze & the Interceptors From Hell in the most sinister and sensational Circus of Horrors show to date.
Imagine if Quentin Tarantino had directed Cirque Du Soleil, then you would be only half way there. Suitable for 16 years and over.
